I'm getting so confused ;) It's been up in the high twenties and thirties for the past month, september! The nights are getting dark and cool like fall and the leaves are changing colour but the day seems like summer! I LOVE IT! Yippee for global warming.
My little guy has been learning by leaps & bounds. He's been squirming around in circles on his belly just trying to go forward. He's been yelping and growling quite loudly and initiating play with Brad & I. And when I ask "where's daddy"? he looks around to find Brad. Ahhhh...what a treat.

Tuesday off
Today is Brad's day off...and today we went to the church and worked on the nursing room. What a blast it's been to transform a drab space into something cozy and soothing. We still have one wall and the floor that needs a little work. But little by little it's getting accomplished.
Tonight for supper we grabbed a bite and picniked by the river. I love that summer has faded yet...it's still warm for shorts and no sweaters. I love that we can still enjoy some quiet family time outside in the warmth...ahhh...warmth.
Tomorrow baby & I have salsa baby dance class! Arriba! And tomorrow I start ballet again after an almost 4 year hiatus...cross my fingers?! Maybe I should wish Brad luck instead, hopefully he'll have a fun night with baby Z.

6.5 months
Wow! Baby is 6.5 months old, summer is still here and the fall schedule has begun. It's been really nice to have life settled down a bit this past month. Baby & I have gotten a bit more of a routine in place.

4 years
Today, Brad & I have been married 4 years. In some ways it only feels like 2 and in other ways I could swear this is anniversary number 5. 2009-2005 = 4 years right?!
Our house is getting fuller and fuller these next couple weeks. Brad's little sister Maegan is still with us. Brad's mom arrives Sunday and stays for 4 weeks and the next Sunday Brad's dad arrives for 3 weeks...and then everyone leaves.
I don't even know what to type. Baby is sleeping, I'm grabbing a quick bite and the house is silent. SILENT. My mission - to finish laundry, check off some to-do's, and make room for company.

Happy Canada Day!
Yesterday was Canada Day. This year we (Zachary & I) spent Canada Day in Regina with Auntie Sarah, Uncle Wheeler, Mom and Dad. My parents celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary in the city where they were married. Kind of cool. And we ended the day off watching the fireworks by the legislature! Beautiful. Zachary's first fireworks and he LOVED them! He kept looking up in the sky as we were walking to the car trying to see more! I was a little more concerned about the noise, hoping that I wasn't wrecking his hearing at such a young age. Maybe my fingers in his ears helped a little :)
This past week, we had a little scare. My little guy had immunizations last Wednesday and was doing okay but as a precaution I gave him some tylenol. He was sleeping much more than usual and when he woke up from a long nap around noon the soft spot on his head was bumped up. So I sat with him a while wondering if it would drop and it didn't. Called the health line, they recommended I get it checked out. Best place to go after some phone calls and consideration. Emergency at the hospital.
They took his underarm temp and we waited for a little while. The doctor came in...said he looks okay, you don't really need to worry but we'll take a rectal temp just to be sure. Took the temperature he has a fever. The doctor returns and says with the swollen soft spot and a fever this changes the scenario. We need to rule out hydrocephalus and meningitis. You have two options. Either admit him for the next ten days while we administer antibiotics or get a spinal tap! BWAH!
My little guy only four months old ended up with blood work, a spinal tap, a long wait at the hospital. And after all that...he is okay! Which is wonderful! My goodness...my intentions of just make sure he is okay ended up causing this whole chain of events. I kept asking, "am I just being a nervous mom" and the response was continually no...in fact it was good you came in. And every resident, nurse and pediatric doctor came in to see his swollen soft spot. Apparently, this was not a common sight. Good grief!
So we are happy today is today, this weekend has been fun...and we're off to see my grandma down at the farm.

4 months

Has it really been 3 months since I last posted! Good grief.
Today my little guy goes for his 4 month shots. And tomorrow he is officially 4 months old. WOW. He is such a treasure. He is calm, content, smiley all the time and cuddly. I love it!
He has been getting stronger every day and is learning to grab at objects, hair and anything that catches his eye. He's learning to rollover, make sounds and laugh.
Since the last time I posted we purchased a house, moved into our house, started work on the basement, had Brad's little sister move in with us for the summer and Brad started a new job. I think it's been a pretty full past 3 months.
I don't even know where to begin in writing, life has felt so full, blessed and busy. As I'm sitting here I just love being a mom, I love being at home. I love having my own home.

1 month
Unbelievably our baby is one month old! I'm thrilled that we are one month closer to sleeping better...but so sad that our little guy is getting bigger. He really is getting bigger. Man, I see how Mom's start to lament the empty nest and their children leaving home. These little ones are so sweet.
I love that he is starting to focus on our faces...that he responds when Brad comes home from work. And that he is starting to fill out his clothing, it's too much fun to dress him.
This week we also bought a house. Brad says we bought it for baby! LOL - hah. We get the keys on April 24th and start the move in! It's a brand new house in a new area of the city. I'm excited. I'm sure I would be even more excited if I was getting more sleep but whatever! I can hardly wait to paint, wallpaper, put up new light fixtures, have some flowers growing. Ahhh...yippeeee!

IT'S A BOY!

On Thursday February 26th at 6:22 pm we were blessed with a healthy baby boy.
He weighed 6 lb 13 oz. His name is Zachary Bradley.
At 5 am my trip to the bathroom was interrupted by my water breaking. After putting the last few items in my hospital bag and installing our car seat off to the hospital we went.
Around 10:30 am they decided to speed up my labour with cervidil, since I was strep B positive and after a couple hours of walking the hallways...labour really set in. By 1 pm the contractions were back to back and about 3 mins. long. My body was shaking and I was sure that I was transitioning. By 2:00 pm they offered me an epidural and checked my progress. I was only at 4...I decided at ONLY 4 I was taking the epidural. Within 1/2 an hour that was done and I was checked again, this time I was at 9! OH my 4 to 9 in 1/2 an hour.
They suggested we let labour progress a little more to get me fully dilated and the baby's head to drop a little more. At around 3:30 - 4 ish they checked me again. I was fully dilated but the doctor had to go do an emergency c-section and asked if I could wait for a couple hours. With lots of breathing (through the urge to push) I waited. At 6 pm the on-call doctor and my obstetrician came in and got me started. After one practice push, they proclaimed that I was an excellent pusher and could already see the head. After 20 minutes and few contractions, Zachary was delivered...right onto my tummy!! Yippeee!! He was beautiful!

The whole experience was wonderful! Just before Zachary was born we were listening to acoustic guitar, the room was dim, peaceful. The sun was just beginning to set. Throughout the whole day we felt God's hand upon this experience. There was a calmness and quietness.

countdown
Unbelievably the countdown has begun...apparently baby could be born anytime between now and the next 4-ish weeks! WOW...this pregnancy feels like it has just begun. But I am now more than ever excited to meet this little person that's stuck inside me.
Every day a few people ask are you ready!?! My answer...there is a Shoppers open 24/7 just down the street if need be :) Does that work? I'm not really sure what I need to be ready for but I figure, with some clothes purchased, a crib set up and a car seat almost installed in our car that I'm ready enough. Labour, well it is what it is and I'm not sure that I'll ever be ready for it until a couple days after it.
Brad & I are both excited to name our little one and to introduce it to ALL the people excited to meet baby. We've both been praying and lifting our little one up to God, knowing that it is God that created and gave us this little one. Yahoo, not much longer.
