sunday afternoon ramblings.

Arghhh...I just typed a post and left for a moment and the post disappeared. ARGhhhhh....here's a second, less eloquent attempt.

E is changing by leaps and bounds. He's scooting around on his bum, turning, rolling over, sitting up, and almost crawling. He's playing and teasing for attention. He has one tooth and if the change of sleep habits seem to indicate, at least another tooth is on the way. He is content, smiley and eager to be on the move. He is easy to please and his smile can melt you.

Z is full of joy. I've been watching him play with friends and interact with strangers and he is just joyful. My recent struggle is how to raise/discipline with firmness and love. I don't want to be the friend with "crazy" child. Z is high energy and currently pushing/testing boundaries. AHHHH...I'm trying to create a framework and reasons for our methods of discipline. Thankfully there are moms/parents that have gone before us and are willing to share their wisdom and insight. And there is prayer. A blanket of prayer.

This is the phase of parenting lacking sleep, crazy busy days, lovely eyes

outside

Summer is upon us! And I'm loving it.

My E is almost 6 months and I seriously wonder "WHERE IS THE TIME GOING"? He's been sitting up, eating his toes, wanting to stand, eyeing up our food, screeching to get our attention. He is very sweet. calm. joyful.

Z is eating up the outdoors. I read a book about child development, playing outside, enjoying nature and the lack there of...tonight he is playing in the common backyard with 3 sets of neighbour kids!! How cool is that. This has been happening more and more lately and I am so happy. It builds our neighbour connections and gets the kids active and loving the outdoors. I love that about this house.

We've been talking about future plans, should we stay where we are, should we find land close to the city, should we find a cabin, should we buy a camper. It seems kind odd of to be dreaming of these ideas but I'm thinking I should start a "pinterest" board, just for fun ;) you just never know.

balanced

Every once and awhile life comes into balance. The last couple days have been one of those phases.

My house feels organized and streamlined. Discipline seems to be working and fruitful. Playtime & less TV is working...food intake is balanced. There seems to be more joy and happiness around here. Spending is down, two kids is feeling normal. God time is alive...ahhhh....

Story #1 - Z was playing with his boy parts...which we have finally been calling by their proper names. So I asked him what he was doing when I noticed his little hands fiddling with his "boy" part.
"Mommy, my penis is singing"!
"What? What did you say?" I asked.
He replied with what I thought I had heard. "Oh..."
And with excited jumping Z adds, "look mommy, my penis is dancing"!

Story #2 - We're driving home and Z was munching on some hickory sticks chips. Z states from his car seat "mommy, I'm eating Jesus' chips"!
Again I ask him again, not sure that I'm hearing correctly. Then I ask, "why are they Jesus' chips"?
Z proceeds to take two sticks out the bag and shape them into a cross, "see mommy a cross"!
Well go figure :)

Time lapse & Inspired

I had started another post about two weeks ago and somehow it disappeared!

I got hooked by pinterest! I wish I had thought of this fabulous idea! All these years of saving images and adding bookmarks to the browser! Just loving how now I can pin up all my ideas and continue to be inspired!

I now have a 3 year old and a 3 month old! Wow! Friday night I ran some errands and saw myself 10-15 years ago. It was so strange and I felt like telling them "hey, this is your future"! LOL!

I would never have imagined being here in this life! I love it! I was thinking of how at that point in life, 10-15 years ago, how you live with such expectancy! You're waiting for, looking forward to being married, having a family, "settling down". I like feeling "settled"! There is a peace in that word.

And so I've been excited by my family, my husband, my two boys and yes, pinterest! To use and develop my gifts. To be a mom that shows love and raises men that love the Lord! I've been seeing other mom's my age pursuing their passions and feel excited to explore, learn, and use mine! However that may manifest!

organized

I've just been reading a blog, modern parents messy kids and feeling inspired, to organize, to create, to be a fabulous parent to my boys. Lots of great ideas.

And I've been watching moms. Moms that a full of joy, life, and fun with the kids. Mom's that love God and are pursuing their passions. Hmmm...

And then there's pinterest. I'm hooked. What a fabulous way to "pin up" all those inspiring ideas! Wish I had thought of it :)

Tomorrow is Z's 3rd birthday! WOW, I mean really WOW, where has the time gone. And E is almost 3 months. Two beautiful boys. E who's face lights up when you look at him. He's gentle, calm and lovely. Z, my energetic, cautious explorer. He has a wonderful curiosity and a gentle spirit. How wonderfully they have changed my life.
